We hiked for about 2 hours but didn’t do a full loop – I would definitely recommend dressing warm (leggings, pants, gloves, thermal, coat, hat, etc). The weather can be very unpredictable and daylight will also affect the temperatures! We didn’t need hiking poles for the portion we did (and the path was fairly established) but some people did bring them. Enjoy, it’s beautiful!

Planning on stopping here this winter and this post is really helpful’ I’d like to know if there was any tricky or steep terrain and would this be suitable for beginner hikers? Did you bring any crampons or snowshoes or hiking poles or did you feel like any of those would be helpful? And were you just wearing leggings and that was warm enough all day? And just a flannel shirt with no gloves?

Hi Selena, this is such a great post on the Pieni Karhunkierros trail. May I ask if you did a round trip on your trail back to the origin or can this trail be split into 2 halves?
