Such a bummer to hear you had that experience! I’m especially sorry to hear about that late-night club music going past midnight – that would absolutely drive me crazy too! Interestingly, we didn’t experience any of that loud music during our visit, which just goes to show how much timing matters. The Welcome hotel is viewed as sort of an institution in Villefranche, so I hope they adopt changes to better the experience for everyone.

Your points about the service issues and extra fees are really helpful for other readers to know about. It sounds like Marinières was a great find. I love hearing different perspectives like this because everyone’s experience can be so different, and it helps paint a fuller picture. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, and I hope you have a more positive experience on your next trip!

We’ve always rented so I can’t comment personally on the convenience of public transport.

I would check the train schedules. We traveled by train and it was not ideal for visiting Nice, Cannes, or other towns. The last train to Cannes is 8:30pm. I would definitely stay in Nice as a base next time!

It is very loud all day and night. It starts early in the am with the cruise ship boats arriving in droves. And ends in the evening with extremely loud club music pumping until past midnight. There is also a fish cart directly below the balconies and the entire area smells like fish. The hotel was also lacking in the service department. There was a long line at both check in and checkout. We nearly missed our train when checking out. They are very short staffed and use an old system that does not process an express check out.
The hotel also charges extra for every single amenity. 4 Euros per day for a single beach towel! We opted to buy day passes at the local Beach club – Marinières – instead. That was a better value from a team that actually understands service.
Note the Welcome Hotel is not a great base when visiting the riviera. It is quite difficult to get in and out of the town both by car and train. Perhaps revisit and reevaluate before sending people here to waste their money.

Quick question, how easy is it to get around without a car in that area? Would love to know if public transport is reliable for tourists.
